Josie joined Rosie Nguyen to discuss Transgender awareness week. Each year around the third week of November, community members and organizations come together to raise visibility, awareness, and education about transgender people and the issues they still face. The week comes to a close right before November 20th, which is Transgender Day of Remembrance

Josie Jesse shares her story about her childhood growing up in Helena, MT. She speaks about the abuse she suffered from her mom. Being bullied in high school, the treatment from a church she was forced to go to which included being sent to deliverance camp twice. Josie also shares about her struggles with suicide and how important it is to talk about suicide and prevention of suicide. She shares about finding forgiveness, healing, and being able to not let her past control her. Her hope is that by sharing it will help encourage others to find hope and to keep fighting. As life can be and is beautiful. "Believe you can, and you will!"

"I just felt stuck." Throughout her life, Josephine has survived abuse, a suicide attempt, and more recently, COVID-19. With the help of a counselor and self-reflection, she's been able to overcome suicidal thoughts and live a fulfilling life as her true self.
